Robert J. "Bobby" Smith, Jr.
(July 25, 1948 - January 18, 2013)
Funeral services for Robert J. “Bobby” Smith, Jr., 64, of Guthrie, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at First Christian Church with Dr. Dennis Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Bobby was born on July 25, 1948 in Guthrie to Bob and Marylee (Marriott) Smith. Bobby married Barbara Priess on September 2, 1969. They celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Bobby’s grandfather, Ray Smith, established Smith Funeral Home in 1929, and Bobby became the third generation Smith to operate the funeral home. Bobby worked with his father until his death in 1986 and his grandfather until his death in 1987, at which time, Bobby and his wife continued to dedicate their lives to serving the people of Guthrie and Logan County in their times of grief. Later, in 2005, Bobby and Ben Gallo became business partners and changed the name to Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
Bobby was a member of the First Christian Church of Guthrie, a member of the Albert Pike Lodge #162, and 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend his time outdoors. He also loved OSU athletics.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; two daughters, Deanna Duehning and husband Matt of Guthrie, and Lisa Reece and husband Greg of Guthrie; five grandchildren that were the joy of his life: Allison and Madison Duehning, and Devin, Myah and Zane Reece. He is also survived by two sisters, Candence Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Janet Kelley and husband Kerry of Guthrie; niece Jessica Beavers and husband Brandon and their daughter, Arden, of Guthrie; and aunt Rosemary Smith Wilson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Marylee Smith. Visitation will be Tuesday until 8:00 pm and Wednesday 8:30 am - 12:00 pm.
